No Shelter? No Problem.

Here’s something you might not know about Camp Companion:

We don’t have a shelter.

Our animals live in real homes with real families.

A spare bedroom. A laundry room. A cozy corner of the kitchen. Maybe even the good chair—which, as any cat person will tell you, was never really yours to begin with.

That’s the Camp Companion way.

Katie happily soaks up a beautiful summer day on the deck.

Home Is Where the Heart Is

Our foster families open their doors to animals who need a soft place to land. They learn who likes belly rubs, who needs a little extra patience, who thinks the vacuum cleaner is the devil incarnate, and who has decided that 3 a.m. is the proper time for a little recreation.

We get to see their personality, their quirks, their habits—and what kind of family will be the best fit.

The Winning Combination

It requires people.

People willing to say, “Sure, we’ve got room.”

People willing to wash one more blanket.

People willing to foster a dog for a while, or make room for a cat who needs somewhere safe.

People willing to roll up their sleeves and pitch in.

That’s the old-fashioned part we like best: neighbors helping neighbors.

Only sometimes the neighbor has four legs and sheds on the furniture.

Camp Companion is foster based. Our animals live in homes, with families, while they wait for their forever homes.

No shelter? No problem.

Just good people, open doors, and a whole lot of love.
